Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our traditional wooden chekku cold extraction, quality testing, and delivery.

What is Cold Pressed (Wood Pressed / Chekku) Oil and how is it made?

Cold pressed oil (also known as Marachekku, Ghani, or Wood-Pressed oil) is extracted by slowly crushing whole, sun-dried oilseeds in traditional wooden churners at ambient room temperature (<35°C). Because no external heat or chemical solvents (such as hexane) are used, 100% of the natural Vitamin E, plant antioxidants, aroma, and essential fatty acids are preserved intact.

Are Saattvik Natural oils FSSAI certified and lab tested?

Yes. Every batch of Saattvik Natural oil is certified by FSSAI and tested in NABL-accredited laboratories. We guarantee 0% trans-fats, zero mineral oil, zero chemical bleaching agents, and zero synthetic preservatives.

How do cold-pressed oils differ from refined supermarket cooking oils?

Commercial refined oils are treated with high heat (>200°C), petroleum solvents (hexane), degumming acids, and chemical deodorizers, which strip essential nutrients and generate trans-fats. In contrast, Saattvik Natural wood pressed oils undergo single mechanical pressing with zero chemicals and zero heat, yielding pure, unadulterated edible oil.

How should I store unrefined cold pressed oils at home?

You should store your unrefined cold pressed oils in cool, dry areas away from direct sunlight, preferably in our food-grade tin containers or dark glass bottles. Secure the cap tightly after every use to preserve the fresh aroma and prevent natural oxidation.
